Concepts of colorimeter and spectrophotometer in the fields of textile, garment, and product no longer seem too far-fetched. A colorimeter is a device designed to be understood and used regularly with color testing requirements. Due to its convenience and quick response capability, it provides good support in color assessment tasks compared to other supporting devices in the field of color evaluation for accurate assessment of the color of products.
To be able to use a colorimeter well, the user needs to have many years of experience in the industry and the ability to check and evaluate the color very well.
It should be noted that not everyone is suitable for using a colorimeter, so QC personnel need to perform an evaluation based on subjective criteria to determine if the colorimeter is appropriate.
Applications of colorimeters
Colors appear differently under different light sources. This is because the color itself has a wavelength that can exist within a certain range of visible, UV or infrared light, leading to different color perceptions when observed in different lighting conditions, which can lead to disputes over the color of the product in different conditions.
To avoid and reduce errors in color assessment, we can use a lightbox combining color/match/leather samples to simulate different light sources to have a fairly objective assessment of color and color differences, anytime, anywhere.
Due to this demand, colorimeters have been developed with different sizes and different light sources, meeting up to 7 light sources to help users have more choices in using colorimeters for color comparison requirements, ensuring accuracy and high color fidelity.
Colorimeters can be applied to industries that need to conduct color difference assessments such as designers and manufacturers who need to control color and brightness for industries such as photography, printing, textiles, plastics, automotive, and various industries.
Features of Tilo colorimeters
The colorimeter combines different light sources such as D65, TL84, A, UV, U30, U35, D50 in color assessment for better accuracy, and can detect metamerism.
It helps assess products according to standards such as ASTM D1729, ISO3664, DIN, ANSI, and BSI.
Easy operation by using separate tools for each light source, ensuring that the light source (bulb) is provided with the most appropriate and stable energy supply. This helps maximize the efficiency of the highest possible use.
Allows monitoring of usage time on the display screen to be able to replace bulbs in time, ensuring accurate color assessment according to requirements.
The light sources are designed to avoid light reflection in color assessment, avoiding errors due to non-uniform and inconsistent light.
The startup and measurement time of the colorimeter is calculated in milliseconds for users to quickly and reliably assess product colors, enabling quick and continuous switching between light sources.
Using energy-saving bulbs conserves energy, keeps the temperature low, and ensures high color accuracy and brightness.
